Ethiopian women continue to face significant socio-cultural barriers and economic challenges in accessing educational opportunities, despite government affirmative action programs designed to close the gender gap. Women have been under-represented in pre-service education programs for health professionals, with significantly lower performance and graduation rates than their male counterparts.
