Under Jhpiego’s Strengthening Human Resources for Health Program, Jhpiego worked with Ethiopia’s Ministry of Health to establish 52 Gender Offices in academic institutions to improve the performance, retention, and graduation rates of female students in nursing, midwifery, and nursing. Jhpiego also supported tuition grants, helped develop a national-level sexual harassment reporting system, offered extra coaching and life-skills training to female students, recognized high performers through awards, and sensitized professors and administrators to create a gender-responsive learning environment.
